MARIA BODA After a long and determined battle with ovarian cancer, at the age of 68, it is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Boda on Friday, February 16 2007. To celebrate her life she leaves behind her loving and dedicated husband Tibor, of 49 years of marriage. Survived by her children, Tibor Jr. (Rose), Sylvia (Jed); grandchildren, Eva, Tibor III, Mark, Evan; sister Katalin (Nick), numerous nieces and nephews as well as many relatives and friends throughout Canada, United States and Hungary. Maria was born in Budapest, Hungary. It was during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 that mom and dad decided to leave their beloved Hungary and start their young married lives in the free country of Canada. Maria had many interests and loves. It was very important to her to keep the Hungarian culture and traditions alive within her own family and as well as the community. Maria was a devoted member of the Hungarian parish at St. Anthony's of Padua and the St. Elizabeth's Ladies Auxiliary and was a founding member of the Hungarian Cultural Society. Maria's family was always first and foremost. She enjoyed time spent with all her grandchildren, whether watering plants in the beautiful garden or passing on her cooking skills in the kitchen. Mom was an excellent cook and baker and utilized her talents when she opened two restaurants over the years. Maria was very much an entrepreneur and was always looking for new ways to work with the public and do the things she enjoyed. Maria had an outspoken personality and compassionate nature, which endeared her to everyone who met and knew her. The family would like to thank all our friends and family for their continued support throughout her cancer treatments and during this difficult time. Special thanks to Maria's good looking doctors , Drs. Krepart, Lotocki, Popowich and the great staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Woman's Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Hungarian Church, 365 Burnell Street with Father Stan Gacek officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Maria's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Nygodjal bekeben. Rest in Peace. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
