WALTER (WALLY) BERRIE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather Walter Berrie on February 16, 2007. He fought a long battle with cancer and passed away at his home with his wife and children at his side. Wally was born in St. Andrews, Manitoba on August 5, 1934 to Paul and Angeline Bahrij. He was the second youngest of nine children. Wally worked most of his life as a mechanic with Stadium Ford and Midway Chrysler until his retirement in 2001. He also worked on the Manitoba Hydro Dams as a heavy equipment operator intermittently from 1966 to 1986. Wally was predeceased by his parents and four older sisters. He is survived by his wife Dawn; daughters, Candace, Judith (Kevin) Burak, Suzanne (Paul) Degagne; sons, Tim and John Bahry, and one granddaughter Carissa Burak. Wally also leaves his brothers, Raymond Berrie, Peter Bahrie, and Frank (Rosa) De Bari; sister Toni (Gordon) Wolanski, and brothers and sisters-in-law, John Honey, Fred and Pat Plante, Kelly and Connie Plante. There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends to be remembered. Special thanks to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba in St. Boniface Hospital and many nurses from the palliative care of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority for their kindness and care for Wally's last month. Pallbearers are Jerry Joss, Kevin Joss, Fred Plante, Kelly Plante, Keith Young, and John Richards. Honorary Pallbearers are Baden De Bari, and Bohden Burak. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd. Viewing one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery on Hwy. #1 East. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare of Manitoba, the Kidney Foundation or Diabetes Association in Wally's name.
