GUDMUNDUR HALLDOR (MUNDIE) BJORNSON Gudmunder Halldor (Mundie) was born March 24, 1921 in the Bru district to Gisli and Runa Bjornson. They moved to the Glenboro district in 1944. Mundie married Doreen Steele on May 26, 1947. He farmed the land belonging to Doreen's parents (currently owned by Don and Marie Steele) from 1948 to 1952. In 1952 he purchased the farm owned by his parents. Mundie worked in the carpentry business with his brother Harold until 1969 and then worked with his son Steve. In 2000 Mundie and Doreen purchased a home in Glenboro where he lived until his passing at the Glenboro Hospital on Sunday February 18, 2007. He had his loving wife Doreen and family at his side. Left to mourn are his wife Doreen and children, Steve (Vera), Brenda (John) Tosh, John (Lorene), Corinne (Cal) Torgerson; 13 grandchildren, Loren (Sheldon), Corey (Larissa), Karyn, Daryl; Glen (Lisa), Michael (Melva), Angie (Robert); Tyler (Pam), Brooke; Cody (Susan), Carina, Cache, Chelci, and eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Nash, Ella; Brynn, Sienna, Landon; Bailey, Justin. Mundie was predeceased by his parents, Gisli and Runa; sisters, Emily, Laura and Hansina, and brothers, Harold and Fred. A celebration of Mundie's life will be held at the Willmor Chapel on Wednesday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Miller officiating. Interment will take place in the Glenboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mundie may be made to CancerCare or to the Glenboro Lutheran Church, Glenboro, Manitoba, R0K 0X0.
