NORMAN D'ARCY MACLEOD

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN D'ARCY MACLEOD Suddenly, on February 16, 2007, at the Victoria General Hospital, beloved husband for 52 years of Jacqueline, passed away at the age of 74 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Jackie; four daughters, Moira (Jay), Sheila, Maureen and Aileen (Keith); one son Ian; his four grandchildren, Rachel, Jennifer, Michael and Charles; brothers, Allan (Ellen), Ronald (Janet), and sister Sandra (John). He was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Annie; brothers, Ian, Sidney, Alistair, and sister Millicent Norm was born on January 25, 1933 in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland. At age 18 he moved to Canada to work with the Hudson Bay Company, and then went on to join James Richardson Sons in Winnipeg, where he worked for 34 years, 10 of those years were in Chicago, IL where he was a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, Chicago Board Options Exchange, Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the International Monetary Market. After retiring from Richardson's he then worked for Arctic Co-op in Coppermine, NWT for four years before again retiring and moving back to Winnipeg. He then went to work for Birchwood Infiniti Nissan as a shuttle driver before finally retiring in 2000. Norm was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Among his greatest enjoyments, which he did for most of his life, was playing and teaching bagpipes. Norm played in various pipe bands throughout the years, starting with the Dunoon Grammar School Band, Ballochyle Pipe Band, The Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, Chicago Stock Yards Kilty Band (as Pipe Major), City of Winnipeg Police Pipe Band and finally the A.N.A.F. Assiniboia Unit 283 Pipe Band. Norm especially enjoyed judging the young pipers of the Lord Selkirk Boy Scouts Pipe Band which he did every year. Norm also enjoyed singing and did many solos at Chalmers United Church, Hudson's Bay Choir, Community Presbyterian Church, Trinity United Church and at numerous weddings and funerals. Norm was also a member of the St. Andrews Society of Winnipeg. Norm will be deeply missed by all. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends wish, donations can be made in Norm's memory to the Lord Selkirk Boy Scouts Pipe Band, c/o Patrick Hobbs, 46 Burgess Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3T 3S7. At Norm's request, there will be no funeral service, cremation has taken place. Norm's life will be honoured and remembered at a reception on Thursday, February 22 at the Canad Inns - Ft.
