Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE POLANSKI March 15, 1928 February 11, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family of George Polanski announces his sudden but peaceful passing while on a Gulf of Mexico cruise with friends and his special friend Ruth Hallonquist. George was born in Winnipeg on March 15, 1928 to Sophie and Antoni Polanski. He was very proud of his parents and of his Polish heritage. George was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth (1983), his parents Sophie and Antoni, stepfather Antoni Mocha, his sister Jean and his special uncle, Peter. As a young man George joined the Naval Reserve but worked for Borger Brothers for over 20 years as a construction supervisor and enjoyed every aspect of construction. He thrived on hard work and a job well done. George always worked harder than anyone around him and got great pleasure from working harder and faster, without tiring. He took pride in planning, drawing the blueprints for and building every house he lived in and helping his children build houses of their own. George loved hunting and fishing and was happy just to be outdoors at any time. George loved to travel and always had a trip to plan or one to talk about. He loved to be traveling down that highway to new places and experiences. He loved to meet new people and gained many friends on his travels. The time he cherished the most was the time he spent with his grandsons, Dylan, Everett, Jordan and Sullivan. They will miss him greatly as will his adopted grandchildren; Matthew, Lilly (his lily of the valley), Sarah and Logan. George leaves to mourn his children Lonni (John), Peter (Sandy), Ken (Cori), Barbara (Richard) and eight grandchildren as well as Ruth's family, Andrew (Pat), Karen (Bryan) and many friends. He is also survived by sisters Helen and Marie (Paul), special niece Donece (Stuart) and nephews Tom, Doug and Don. The past few years George spent in the company of Ruth and her wonderful family. We are greatly appreciative and are truly thankful for Ruth's caring and loving ways. We know the sparkle in George's eye was Ruth. The family would like to especially thank the staff of the cruise ship, The Norwegian Dream and the Norwegian Cruise Line for their help and concern. A special thank you to Carolyn, her staff and Matthew for their kind concern and help. George will forever be missed by his family, friends and Ruth. Funeral service will held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23 at St. Chad's Anglican Church, 3390 Portage Avenue. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 6 Donald Street, R3L 0K6. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
