JAMES (JIM) EDMUND BROWN Early in the morning on Sunday, February 18, 2007, Jim peacefully left his friends and family after a courageous battle with a life destroying infection, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 75 years. Forever cherishing Jim's memory are his wife of 51 years, Frances-Mary (Orchard); three children and their spouses, James (Patricia Owens), Flynn (Norma Johnston), and Arden (Joel Nelson). In addition, six dearly loved grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, Jamie, Paul, Robin and Gabrielle; three sisters, Elva Davies, Verna Simpson, and Marena Orchard. Born in Newdale, Manitoba, in 193l, Jim grew up in the area around the small town of Basswood. After high school he left the farm and for a time, owned and operated a small general store in Keyes. Moving to Winnipeg he entered an electrical apprenticeship and went on to secure his contractor's license. Jim worked for himself for several years then went up to work on the DEW line for a year and a half. The CBC offered him a position and he spent Canada's centennial traveling far and wide across Western Canada before coming to B.A. Robinson to start a career as a salesman. Eventually, Jim started his own successful company, JEBCO Agencies. Almost 10 years ago he sold his share of the firm to his partner H. McMillan. We were all proud of his success and the way the company has continued to grow and prosper. After retirement, Jim found many outlets for his abundant energy. First was his family, then golf, traveling, and doing many, many odd jobs for family and friends. We will all miss our resident electrician, our own energizer bunny. Jim's funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, at 1:00 p.m. in The Bridge Church, 620 Oxbow Bend Road, located at the South West corner of Portage Avenue and the Perimeter Highway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, D1003 - 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2A6, or to the charity of one's choice. Jim's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
