BERTHA KRUIZENGA (nee DEJONG) On the morning of February 20, 2007, my beloved wife Bertha, our loving mother and Beppe, flew away to be with God. She leaves to mourn her passing husband John; sons, Leonard, Herb (Laurie), Peter; daughter Karen (Garry); son Ken (Paula); her six cherished grandchildren and her sisters and brothers. Bertha was predeceased by her infant son Robbie, her parents and eldest brother. She was born on March 2, 1933 in the Netherlands and in 1952 emigrated to Canada at age 19 with her parents and siblings to settle in Winnipeg. She worked hard in those early years to help support her family before marrying John in 1955 and starting her own family. Mom was a lover at heart, giving and receiving with her whole being every chance she got. Contemplative, intelligent and sensitive, she was utterly devoted to her husband and children. She expressed deep gratitude and love for her husband's tender care and the many friends who spent time with her during these last seven years as she struggled to overcome significant physical challenges. We would like to especially thank Evelyn Toews and Marcia Schippers for their faithful and loving ministrations to Mom. May her lovely spirit now soar into the next life, holding her precious Robbie once again in her arms. Go well dear Mom, loved and cherished you will always be. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Bertha's life on February 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in her memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba. What we hold of truth she taught us, what we know of love she brought us.
