GEORGE WALTER GRANT On Monday, February 19, 2007 at Concordia Hospital, George Grant, age 92 years, entered into rest after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Mabel; son James (Beverly); grandchildren Bill (Kerry-Lynn), Misty and Tiffany; great-granddaughter Breanne (her mother Shelley); as well as many relatives and friends. George was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ellen; brothers Arthur and James; granddaughter Mary. George was born October 19, 1914 at Grange Farm at Rapid City, the last of the Grants born in the Brick House built by his grandfather, George. He attended school at Scandinavia, MB then at Minnedosa High School. In 1939, he joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve serving in the North Atlantic during World War II. He signed up to go to the Pacific Theatre but the war ended before he finished his leave. In 1944, he met Mabel Askin and married her in June 1945. At the time Mabel was working at Naval Headquarters in Ottawa (Civil Service). George was always proud of his only son, James and his family. Special thanks to all the staff at the Concordia Hospital on N3 West. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive.
