SARA DONIN March 30, 1915 - February 11, 2007 Sara Donin passed away peacefully in her home at the Portsmouth Retirement Residence on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at the age of 91. The daughter of Harry and Dora Isenstein, Sara was born on March 30, 1915 in Calgary, Alberta. In 1937, Sara moved to Winnipeg and married Jack Donin. Raising their son in Winnipeg, both Sara and her husband were very active within the Jewish community, including the Peretz Folk School where their son attended. She was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women, and enjoyed singing with the Rosh Pina Synagogue Choir. Sara was an avid bridge player and always loved the company of her family and friends. Sara was predeceased by her husband Jack, her twin brothers, Simon and Saul Isenstein, and her sister Lille Simkin. Two great-grandchildren are expected this year, a source of great pleasure and excitement for Sara. She will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Sandra Donin of Toronto; her grandchildren, Judith and David; her sister, Pearl Kass of Miami, Florida and her niece, Sharron Dudeck, and her family, Joel, Francie and Lauren and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the wonderful care and support Sara always received from Sharron and her family, and more recently, her caregivers Esther, Emma, Procella and Dr. Sarah Kredentser. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 13 at Congregation Etz Chayim with interment at Rosh Pina Memorial Park. Pallbearers were, Lauren Dudeck, Francie, Dudeck, Joel Dudeck, Nathan Simkin, Simon Simkin and Alex Narvery. Donations in her memory may be made to The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
