PAMELA AILEEN DEAN (nee JOHNSTONE) Passed away on February 9, 2007 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in Brandon, after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Jack; sons, Jeff (Nikki), Michael (Sabrina); granddaughter, Brianna; mother, Aileen Johnstone; brother, Neil Johnstone (Karin); sister, Pat Smith; sisters-in-law, Janie Barr (Jim), Barb Knight (Ted); numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Chris and father and mother-in-law Ev and Jean. Pam was born on March 18, 1949 in Winnipeg and attended Brock Corydon and Kelvin High School. She attended the University of Manitoba where she graduated with a teaching certificate. Pam and Jack went together for 6 years and were married on July 5, 1969. Pam began her career as a teacher. She was an excellent and gifted teacher who taught for 12 years in Winnipeg, Winnipegosis, Wabowden, The Pas, and throughout the Brandon area. Pam loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, horseback riding, snowmobiling, golfing, motorcycling and painting. She and Jack eventually moved to Griswold in 1987. In 1989, Pam took a new career path and subsequent education to become a lay pastoral minister with the United Church where she found her true calling. She served Oak Lake and Griswold for 18 years and was never happier. The most important thing to Pam was her family. She will be greatly missed for her kindness, humor, compassion, honesty and integrity. The Ceremony to Celebrate and Remember Pam's Life was held at the Oak Lake United Church and also at the Oak Lake Community Hall, Oak Lake on Monday, February 12, 2007. Rev. Lydia Glawson officiated. A private interment was held at the Griswold Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Pam to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, NICU (NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit), Room D1003 - 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2A6 or to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3.
