D. A. (AL) ROBERTSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of D. A. (Al) Robertson, age 77, on February 20, 2007. Remaining to celebrate his life are his wife Glenna; children, Al Jr. and Kerri Vincent (Patrick); grandchildren, Grace, Jeff, Tim (and their mom Patricia), Renee, Dominique; nieces and nephews, Bev (Bob), David (Shirley) and Dale, great-nieces and nephews, together with many lifelong friends and business acquaintances. Born in Winnipeg, January 13, 1930, Al graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1948. Thereafter, Al chose sales as a career. His qualities of honesty, competency and likeability made this an ideal career choice. His career in sales had him work with various firms, including Maple Leaf Mills and Lincoln Electric (as District Manager). Lastly, Al founded his own company in 1971, D. A. Robertson Agencies Ltd., operating a successful manufacturer's agency, distributing electrical products, until his retirement in 1987. Al retired at age 57, moving to Florida for his retirement years. His retirement brought him great pleasure, sometimes heard to call it his favourite career. Retirement allowed him to pursue his favourite hobbies, including watch collecting, golf (scored a hole in one at age 71) and flea marketing . Al was blessed by his likeable nature, garnering many true friends during his life. He was affectionately known by various monikers by those close to him, Grandpa Robbie , Bumpa and Chicken . The planet is a better place for him having walked upon it, with many memorable footprints left behind. Thought of always, missed enormously and loved even more. A celebration of Al's life will take place in April 2007. Further Notice to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6.
