JOSEPH LEGAL With heavy hearts we bid adieu to our Dad, Joseph Legal, on February 20, 2007, at the age of 77. He is now freed from the burden of C.O.P.D. that literally took his breath away. Losing another parent becomes the immeasurable heartache of his three daughters and our husbands, Joanne Querel (Ken), Debbie Korpesho (Leonard) and Donna Kirsch (Greg). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Trevor and finance April, Kristin and husband Phil, Tyler, Richel, Rhylee and Taylor. He will also be missed by his sisters, brother, family members and special friend Francine Gauthier. The second of 11 children born to Anna and Emile Legal, Joseph grew up in Ste. Genevieve, MB. At 21 years of age he joined the Army, serving from 1950 to 1954 with the Royal 22nd Regiment, where he was awarded The United Nations Medal and The Korean War Medal. Upon his return he married Laurette Beckman and together they worked diligently to provide for their family. A people person and salesman at heart, he sold everything from powdered milk to sewing machines, eventually joining London Life where he earned many Top Sales Awards during his accomplished career. Dad was an excellent, self-taught fiddler. With a twinkle in his eye and his toe tapping, he and his band Cheyene would play old time waltzes, polkas and jigs at many celebrations as well as during the Festival du Voyageur. Dad loved watching football and hockey, gardening, feeding the birds during winter, soaking up the sun and floating in his boat with a nice cold OV. He even received a Master Angler Award from the Province in 1989 for reeling in the big one . He loved to tease his grandchildren, was extremely proud of their accomplishments and bragged about them often. He adored and cherished each one of them so very much. Dad joins some very special souls: Wife Laurette (2003), Mother Anna (2002), Sisters Georgette (2003) and Rita (2007). In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A private family celebration of Dad's life will be held at a later date. Dad always said, It takes all kinds to make a world . And he was one of a kind!
