ANGELA HAMERNICK (nee YACHNICKI) 1915 2007 It is with profound sadness that the family of Angela Hamernick announces her passing in Winnipeg, MB on February 22, 2007 at the Holy Family Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Steven (1991); her parents, Michael and Lily Yachnicki; brother Stanley; sisters, Josephine Charney, Jean Therrien, Mary Murphy, Anne Chanway and recently her dear nephew Bill Bulauca. Angela will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Ken (Diane) of Calgary, AB and Reg of Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Lisa of Malibu Beach, CA and Steven (Donna); sister Emily Bulauca of Winnipeg, MB and many nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunty Nellie. Born in Lewis, MB, she spent her childhood days in Elma, MB and her entire adult life in Winnipeg where she married her husband Steven, November 7, 1936. She was a lifelong and devoted member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, and a valued employee of the T. Eaton Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1983. Angela was known by her friends and co-workers as a gentle, gracious and modest person and a willing and cheerful volunteer worker for her community. Regardless of the task at hand, she was always prepared to do her best. Angela was incapable of being idle. She had a strong work ethic, unfailing energy, a quiet strength of character and an unwavering sense of duty to honour commitments. Mom was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker whose life centered on the well being of her family. She took pride in her home which was always open to family, friends and neighbours. She was a passionate cook and a gracious host who will be remembered dearly for her warm and generous hospitality, loving kindness and quintessential mothering. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Holy Family Nursing Home, especially those in the St. John's Unit. Also a special thanks to Adele Kost for her generosity and kindness. Prayers will be said on Monday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
