ALLEN WILLIAM PITT June 16, 1931 - February 21, 2007 After a prolonged illness, Al went to sleep peacefully, at home, in Black Creek, BC, with his wife Rae and sons Bob and Ian at his bedside. He will be sadly missed by Rae, his wife of 58 years; his five children, Allen (Debbie), Bob (Dorothy), Keith, Ian and Katherine (Steven) Robinson; also his five grandchildren, Adam, Kim (Neil) Bjorkland, Trisha (Chris) Haaksma, Aaron (Donna) and Allison Pitt; and his six great-grandchildren, Darien, Regan, Andrew (Haaksma), Keerstin, Ayden and Avery; predeceased by his father Alfred; and his mother Freda; he has a sister Shirley living in Winnipeg. Al was born in Winnipeg and had a lot of good memories of his friends in the Elmwood and St. James areas. He and Rae raised their children in Transcona. He was a very strong and active union man, being one of the founding members of CAIMAW of which he was the president for seven years, and he spent the last 14 years of his career working at Westmin Mines with a great group of men and women. There will be a celebration of Al's life on March 3 at the family home, 4326 Macaulay Rd., Black Creek, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. We'll meet again. Love always, Mom - Allen - Bob - Keith - Ian and Katherine. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Comox Valley Funeral Home Crematorium, 1101 Ryan Rd., Courtenay, BC.
