GLADYS LENORE JONES (WEBSTER)
Date of Passing: Feb 23, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS LENORE JONES (nee WEBSTER) Gladys Lenore Jones Glady died on Friday, February 23, 2007 at Ste. Anne's Court in Fredericton. She was a former resident of Roblin Boulevard in Winnipeg. Glady was born in Winnipeg in 1926, the daughter of Erasmus William Frederick Webster and Gladys Irene Davies. Until she left to work for the Hudson's Bay Company in downtown Winnipeg, she lived with her parents on the family farm in southern Manitoba. It was while she was working as a buyer for the Bay that she met her husband, Irvine Lister Jones, who was a salesman there. Glady always said the sparks flew when Irv walked into the office. It was a time when husbands and wives were not allowed to work together in the same company, so rather than chose who'd stay...they both left and Irv founded West End Realty, a general insurance and real estate firm in Winnipeg. Glady's life-long love of animals began on her parents farm and it continued as she and her husband owned a large hobby farm populated with chickens, cows, geese and horses. All of Glady's favourite times were spent with Irv and she had fascinating stories about the elaborate dinner parties they enjoyed hosting and their many adventures in their big motor home. Glady's was eccentric...no doubt about it and she gloried in it....throwing herself into whatever occupation that caught her fancy. Whether it was bird-watching and filling over thirty-seven albums with labeled pictures of the friends visiting her bird feeders or cooking long hours to fill her three enormous freezers...Glady let nothing stand in her way. She was curious about everything, and people she spoke to blossomed under her attention. She was predeceased by her husband, Irv and their son, Kevin. She is survived by her sons, Martin (Lena) of Calgary, Steven (Diane) of Nanuet, New York and several grandchildren. There will be no funeral service in Fredericton. An interment service will take place in Winnipeg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish could make a donation to the charity of their choice.
