STEPHEN (STEVE) STELMACK Steve Stelmack passed away peacefully in his home February 25, 2007. Steve leaves behind his wife Kornelia (Corrie), daughter Colleen, son Larry, sisters, Anne Stefanec (Stonewall) and Doris Smith (Mission, BC), his friend and brother-in-law Alec DeGroot (Mary, Sidney, BC), and many nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Prokop, brothers, Mike and Johnny, and sister Mae Handley. Steve was born July 31, 1920 in Cooks Creek, Manitoba. He moved to Transcona in 1928 where he met and married Corrie DeGroot October 4, 1941, three days before being called to serve in the Canadian Army. They moved to Pat Bay on Vancouver Island while Steve waited to be sent to serve in Holland. When he returned from the army, Steve worked for 20 years as a crane operator for Dominion Bridge after which he was Superintendent of Pre-cast Construction for Supercrete Ltd. Steve retired in 1976. Steve will always be remembered by friends and family as the man who could build or fix anything. The family would like to thank the Selkirk/St.Clements paramedic services, the Selkirk R.C.M.P., and the Selkirk homecare staff for their kind assistance. A memorial service will he held on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street.
