ERIC WATSON PAUL November 23, 1913 February 28, 2007 On February 28, 2007, Eric Watson Paul, at the age of 93 years, passed away peacefully with his wife Minnie Paul at his side. Left to cherish his memory is Minnie Paul, his wife of 34 years; his sister Norma Sonnenberg; his children through marriage, Alfred Larsen, David Larsen (Charlene), Gwen Gosek (Richard); grandchildren, Darla, Derek, Jared, Shawn, Tara, Lonnie, David, Chantel, Ernestine, Shirley, Debra, Barbara and Christopher; and 18 great-grandchildren. Eric was predeceased by his mother, father, uncle; and two grandsons, Jody Larsen and Chad Gosek. Eric served overseas as a medic in the Second World War. He was honorably discharged in 1946 after spending an additional year caring for those who were unable to return home. Upon returning home to Saskatchewan, he worked as a lab technician at the North Battleford Indian Hospital until his retirement in 1967. It was while working there that he met his future wife, Minnie. Eric was well known for his compassion, his honesty and integrity and these values were reflected in his work at the hospital where his duties extended beyond the lab to the wards where he pitched in whenever there was a need, or a patient to comfort or a hand to hold. In order to communicate better with the people he worked with, Eric took the initiative to learn the Cree language. After his retirement, Eric, who was not one to sit idle, became a co-owner of Centennial TV and Repair in North Battleford. Eric loved to travel by motorhome across western Canada; he never tired of the wildlife, the birds and nature's sights. He was a loving and constant companion to Minnie, and a thoughtful, supportive and generous father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will remain in the memory and hearts of all those who knew and loved him. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Tudor House Personal Care Home in Selkirk for their care and support. In accordance with Eric's wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service to honour his memory will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007, at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charitable efforts to support the environment. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
