Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS (RUTH) NISSEN Peacefully, on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Gladys Ruth Nissen, formerly of Oakville, beloved widow of the late Walter Nissen, passed away at the age of 90 years. Funeral service will be held in St. Luke's Anglican Church on Monday, March 5, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Fraser Hunter officiating. Interment will take place in Hillside cemetery at a later date. Ruth was born May 28, 1916, to Charles and Percilla Garton at Portage la Prairie. She was raised and received her education in the Oakville district. In 1941 she married Walter Nissen and they farmed in the Oakville district. After Walter's passing she moved to Kawende Courts in Oakville where she resided until she moved to the Lions Prairie Manor in 2004. She was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church and also a member of the Silver Threads. She enjoyed playing cribbage at the Oakville Seniors Centre. Predeceased by her husband Walter; her brothers, Howard and Tommy Garton; her sister Stella Daoust. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Glen of Oakville; her grandson Travis of Winnipeg; and her niece Ruth Barber of BC. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24 9 St. SE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4.
