IRMA KOCEN Peacefully with her family at her side, Friday March 2, 2007, Irma Kocen passed away at home, at the age of 69 years, after a long and extremely courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Irma was predeceased by her loving husband, August Kocen; her parents, Josif and Maria Marsic, as well as her brothers, Vince, Ivan and sister Rosa. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Martha and Rick Suche; grandchildren, Steven and Lisa; son Ivan and Deb Kocen; grandchild Jennifer; and daughter Marianna and Doug Chervinski; grandchildren, Jessica and Becky; all of Manitoba. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Magdalena Rainer of Winnipeg; brother Franz Marsic and sister Lena Sovic both of Slovenija; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Irma was born in Slovenija on January 26, 1938 and immigrated to Canada in June of 1957. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Rise Sportswear, retiring in 1998 after 30+ years. In many ways, mom led a very simple life. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. At her house, food was always plentiful her favorite saying was Eat! Eat! . Mom loved baking and gardening, but most of all, she loved to be with her grandchildren. They were the most important things in her life. Whether it was a family birthday or a sleepover, she loved spending time with her babies . As her health began to fail, she would say that the biggest regret she had was not seeing her babies grow up. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Ave. with Father Kevin Bettens celebrant. Irma will be laid to rest with August in the family plot at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A heartfelt thanks to all of mom's caregivers who gave up so much to make mom comfortable through this difficult time. A special thanks to all of the special angels at Cancer Care Manitoba and the palliative care staff who helped during her last days. Donations may be made in memory of Irma to Cancer Care Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg, MB (204) 982 - 7550
