MARY ELLEN MOZEL (BELL)
Born: Jun 01, 2012
Date of Passing: Feb 27, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELLEN MOZEL (nee BELL) December 19, 1909 - February 27, 2007 Peacefully, at the age of 97, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away while in palliative care at Moose Mountain Lodge in Carlyle, SK. She was predeceased by her husband Steve; and her three brothers, Jim, Joe and Russell Bell. Mom was born December 19, 1909, to Helen and William Bell and grew up in Rosewood, MB. She and Steve married on September 2, 1950. They lived, loved and worked on the farm east of Anola until Steve's passing in 1991. Soon after, Mom moved west to Arcola, SK, to be closer to daughter Linda and her family. Mom was a slight yet surprisingly strong woman, undaunted by neither task nor responsibility. Always a lady, cheerful and often humming a tune; quick to smile yet slow to judge. Mom could always be counted on to brighten your day even if it meant reminding you that there were others a lot worse off than yourself. We're sure that Mom's love of life, family and friends can still be heard echoing off the walls of our old house where many a Saturday night was spent playing cards, sitting elbow to elbow on mismatched chairs that no one noticed. A devoted wife and mother; when she wasn't in the field picking stones, carrying water, tending the garden or preparing meals, she always made the time to run a hand through your hair, bandage a wounded knee or say, Thank-you for the crumpled handful of wildflowers. Mom's affection for bingo later in life was the one luxury she allowed herself, which in turn garnered her a few small prizes but many cherished friendships. Left with fond memories are daughter Linda Chapman (Rene) of Arcola, SK; son Lloyd (Geri) of Winnipeg, MB; grandsons, Jamie Chapman (Charlene) of Carlyle, SK, Jeff Chapman (Darlene) of Arcola, SK, and Michael Mozel of Winnipeg, MB; three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Tori and Kyra Chapman and Ms. Alisha Wayling of Arcola. Mom will also be lovingly remembered by extended family, Douglas Hixt (Jubilee) and George Hixt (Therese) and their children as well as all her surviving sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A special Thank-You to the Palliative care staff at Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle, SK, for the care, comfort and dignity provided in Mother's last years. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service/luncheon will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Anola Fellowship Chapel (south on Monominto Road - 3 miles east of Anola). Interment to follow at Millbrook Cemetery.
