HANS JOACHIM ACHT December 12, 1940 - March 6, 2007 After a short but fierce battle with cancer, Hans passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. He will be sadly missed by Gretel, his loving wife of 34 years, and the pride and joy of his life, his two sons Hans jr. and Michael (Lisa), along with many relatives and friends in Germany. As well, his companions in the animal kingdom will forever miss their loving master, especially his two dogs, Duke and Oscar, who wait patiently for his return. The family likes to express their thankfulness to everybody involved in Hans' care at St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. We are deeply touched by the caring thoughtfulness of all our friends in the St. Boniface OR and thank especially Dr. Cameron, Dr. Loiselle, Dr. K. Booth, Dr. M. Garcia, Bruce Anderson, Gigi Giroux, Wanda Borley and Sylvia Starmer. Also a heartwarming thanks to the terrific staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit and Spiritual Care, who made sure Hans enjoyed his final days in total peace and comfort. In keeping with Hans' wishes, cremation and a private service have taken place. A celebration of his life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
