DIANA KATHERINE SGAYIAS On March 1, 2007 after a lengthy illness, Diana Katherine Sgayias passed away peacefully at the Sharon Home with her family by her side. Diana was predeceased by her brother Perciles (1984), sister-in-law Vasilo (1994), and her nephew David (2003). Diana will be deeply missed by her sister Elaine Evans, her nephews, Mark (Sharon) Evans and David (Sheri) Evans, her niece Karen (Tom) Daeninck and seven great-nieces and nephews, Karleigh, Matthew, Noah, Felicia, Camille, Brooke and Blake. Diana was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 2, 1930. She spent over 30 years with Great West Life Assurance Company both in Winnipeg and Denver, Colorado where she retired in 1994 as Manager of Group Claims. She was a graduate of LOMA's prestigious Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) program. Diana enjoyed volunteering at the Wildlife Centre in Denver. She was also a member of the board of directors of the Seniors in Community Living (SICL) beginning in 1990 and serving as President in 2001. Diana and her sister Elaine were fortunate to spend many enjoyable times together travelling throughout Canada, the US, and Europe after she retired. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Riverview Health Centre and Sharon Home, especially nurses Betty and Brenda. A special thanks to Dr. Paul Daeninck for his kind care of Diana. Diana was a special aunt to Karen throughout her life and Karen returned that love especially during Diana's illness by providing extraordinary support, care and kindness. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Diana's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB. A private memorial service will be held at Thompson In the Park on March 9.
