Mom was born in 1928 in Benito, Manitoba. She was one of 11 children born to William and Ida Knight. In 1946 she married Gordon and they resided in the Mather area for about a year after which they moved to Winnipeg. Mom worked for many years in dry cleaning with Hi-Way Cleaners and Rite-Way Cleaners, while at the same time raising her family. Mom and Dad's home was always a welcoming and gathering place for relatives visiting from outside of Winnipeg. Mom enjoyed travelling with Gordon - including taking in horse races, camping trips and trips to North Dakota, Florida and California. She cherished the time spent watching her grandchildren grow up. She loved to laugh, spend time with her girls and cook for all who visited at her home of over 40 years on Kirkfield Street. When the love of her life, her husband Gordon, passed away in 1999, a part of Mom died as well. Shortly thereafter she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and was placed into the trusting and caring hands of the Charleswood Care Centre, where she resided for almost five years. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at the Centre for the caring and compassionate manner in which they looked after Mom (Evie).
