MARY (MARIA) BIEN Mary Bien peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Mary was born in 1919 in a small village near Horodinka, Ukraine. In 1936 she was wed to her husband John Bien. After a short time together, they were separated by first the Second World War and later the Iron Curtain for nearly 20 years. In 1958, she was reunited with her husband John and they started a family and a new life in Canada. Mary worked with John in the family business. She was a vigorous and energetic presence in the life of her family. She enjoyed cottaging and her hands were rarely idle, usually filled with needlecrafts and baking. Mary was predeceased by her husband John. She is survived by Bill and Stephanie (nee Holloway) Bien and Gloria (nee Bien) and Dale Veale. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
