JOSEPH AIME LAPLANTE April 19, 1934 - March 6, 2007 With his family at his side, Dad/Pépère lost his courageous battle to lung cancer. He was predeceased by his wife Mona; daughter Lucille; parents, Flora and Horace; sisters, Anita Gagnon, Suzannne; mother and father-in-law Sarah and André Grouette; sister-in-law Doreen Raymond; brother-in-law Joe Grouette and numerous family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Suzanne (Eric); son Richard (Tracy) and grandchildren, Brady, Jennifer, Jeremy, Brandon, Tiarra and Gabriel; sister Yvette Gagnon (Nil) and brother-in-law Bertrand Gagnon; sisters-in-law, Hélène Grouette, Shirley Grouette and brother-in-law Yves Raymond; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Coaticook, PQ. He joined the Air Force as a chef at a young age, which led him to Winnipeg to meet his future wife, Mona. He left the service and worked at The Fort Garry Hotel for years. He also worked at Alltrans Express. Later him and mom were caretakers for Winnipeg Regional Housing. His hobbies included fishing, camping and spending time at the flea market repairing clocks. He was an avid supporter of hockey for the youth and coached the Central Braves. He instilled many values in his family and was an amazing father/grandfather. Family was everything to Dad. The family wants to thank all the homecare workers, doctors, nurses and staff at the Pine Falls Hospital who were instrumental in Dad's care throughout his illness and long hospital stay. You are all angels to us for your amazing care and compassion shown to our Dad. We would like to thank Fr. LaFleur for all the spiritual support given to Dad. Thanks for spending so much time with our family after Dad's passing; you made it a lot easier. Cremation has already taken place. A mass celebrating Dad's life will be held at Christ The King Church at 847 St. Mary's Rd., on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. and at Dad's request, a private interment to follow.
