MARY ANNE KEEFE (nee THOMPSON) 1921 - 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary Keefe on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Mary will be deeply missed by Clayton, her husband of 61 years; her children, Catherine Slater (Mike), Michael (Barbara), David (Leslie), Alanna; and grandchildren, Michael John, David, and Jennifer Slater, Jennifer and Jonathan Keefe, Tim, Paul and Andy Keefe, Simon Imbrogno and Samuel Gerrard; and great-grandchildren, Tegan and Sarah. She was predeceased by her son Thomas Edward (March 5, 1980); and her brothers, Chuck Connelly, Pat and Ted Thompson. Born in Calgary and attending school in Banff, AB, Mary married her high school sweetheart in 1946. She enjoyed a life rich with experience, following her husband's Air Force career across Canada. After dedicating her home years to raising her children, she spent the best part of a decade in Winnipeg working as a Library Technician for the St. James Assiniboia School Division. Upon retirement in 1984, Mary and Clayton settled in Parkesville, BC, for 17 years, returning to Winnipeg in 2002. Mary will be fondly remembered for her keen wit, generous humour, love of reading, and her gift for poetry. Her strong will and loving nature will be sorely missed. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Doctor Atwal and the doctors and staff of the Grace General Hospital, with special thanks to Chaplain Lt. Colonel Maxwell Ryan. According to Mum's wishes, cremation has taken place with interment to follow in the Banff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Mary may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200 - 6, Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6, Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1P6, or the Salvation Army Memorial Fund, Box 1932, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3R2.
