BARBARA KATHRYN BUTLER (nee SOPKO) It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Barbara, our Mother and Baba, on Sunday, March 4, 2007, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 59 years. Barb will be greatly missed by her children, Judi (Mike), David (Pam), Ken (Kaz); grandchildren, Shae and Shaun (Judi), Jordan and Sydney (David), Malcom and Mika (Ken); her brother Larry Sopko (Diana); as well as the family dogs, Katie, Jake, Mesha and Austin. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Butler on September 19, 2004; father Stanley on January 29, 2004, and her mother Eva on April 6, 1982. Born in Selkirk, Manitoba, on April 13, 1947, Barb was raised on a small farm in Libau. She attended grade school at the Libau East School and high school in Selkirk at Selkirk Collegiate. While attending the University of Manitoba she met her future husband, Bob, they married and made their home in Winnipeg. Barb began working at Archibald Brokerage and then in January 1987 began a long career at Sysco as an inside Sale Representative and continued to work until her passing. Barb loved spending time at the farm in Libau and especially at the lake with her family. She had a great love for nature and enjoyed sitting in front of the fire staring at the stars while enjoying a glass of wine. Barb loved playing bingo and especially winning. Barb was very diligent in raising her three children and very committed to her family life. She supported her children in all of their extra curricular activities. One of Barb's greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Mom, we love you and we will miss you so much. Baba we love you. In compliance with Barb's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors and support staff in the SICU and MICU. We would also like to thank our family, friends and co-workers for their kindness and support. The outpouring of sympathy has been a real comfort to our family at this difficult time and we are truly grateful. If so desired, donations in Barb's memory may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital General Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2A6, or to a charity of one's choice. Barb's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
