1913 - 2007 Peacefully but suddenly on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 in Seven Oaks Hospital mom passed away at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Jimmy, son Kent, two brothers, Hing and David and one sister Ngan Oy. Left to cherish her memory are her son Stan (Donna), brother Don (Anne) many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Canton, China on May 19, 1914. Fon became a teacher. She immigrated to Canada after the Second World War. She settled in Portage La Prairie with her husband where they ran a successful restaurant business. Upon her husband's passing Fon moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. Mom was an active member of the Chinese United Church and also enjoyed spending her time watching the horses at Assiniboine Downs. In 1992 mom moved from Winnipeg to her residence in St. Andrews' where she enjoyed working in her gardens and flower beds. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. David L. Robbins officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Portage La Prairie.
