KORNELIA (KUSHNIR) BARWINSKY With sadness in our hearts, the family of Kornelia (Kushnir) Barwinsky would like to announce her death on March 8, 2007. Kornelia was born in Western Ukraine on August 24, 1909. In 1932, she married Joseph Kushnir and, in 1937, they and their young daughter Vera immigrated to Canada where they farmed in the Fraserwood, MB area. Soon after their arrival, their son Don was born. Later they moved to Winnipeg where Joseph was employed at Shore Glass and Kornelia worked at the Royal Alexander Hotel. In 1955, they went into the hotel business. They owned hotels in Whitemouth, Winnipeg, Lockport and Gilbert Plains. In 1967 they retired to Winnipeg. In 1974, Joseph passed away and, after several years of widowhood, Kornelia married Osyp Barwinsky. They were together for 16 years and after Osyp's passing she moved into Selo Villa until 2000. She spent her final years at Middlechurch Home where she actively participated in all the events. Kornelia was predeceased by her parents and siblings in Ukraine and her brother and nephew in the US. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law Vera and Walter Dawydiuk; her son and daughter-in-law Don and Sandra Kushnir; grandchildren, Allan Dawydiuk (Kim), Diane Johnson (Dave); Sherry Gusberti (Gary), Brian Dawydiuk (Karen), Darcy Freudenberg (Dave); great-grandchildren, Mandy, Amber, Jolene, Meaghan, Kyla, Ashley, Mathew, James, Libbi, Jon; great-great-grandchildren, Mya and Nev; Dr. and Mrs. J.
