F. W. (BILL) LOHR Peacefully on February 25, 2007 Bill passed away at the age of 84. Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife Audrey of 56 years and their children Patti (Bruce) and Glenn (Kim). Bill was a loving grandfather to Christopher, John and Shanlee (Rutherford) and Crystal (Lohr). He was predeceased by his brother Ed in 1986. Bill was born on July 31, 1922 at St. Elizabeth Manitoba. He lived at Warren, Manitoba until 1942 when he joined the RCAF. Bill was stationed at Dunsfold, England and Melsbroek, Belgium where as a pilot on the B-25 Mitchell, he completed a tour of operations with 98 Squadron, 2nd Tactical Air Force. In 1949 he joined the Winnipeg Fire Department, serving his community until retiring in 1987 as District Chief. In his spare time Bill loved to putter. He was a great carpenter, building his home where he lived for 51 years, a trailer, kitchen cupboards and whirly-jigs. When he was not building Bill was making wine, playing the accordion and keyboard, or mastering the computer. Bill was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He did it in his own quiet, unassuming way. He was an extremely patient man who loved nothing more than talking to people and sharing a good laugh. He was in all ways a gentle man. We thank you for giving us the most precious gifts of all, your time and your values. We will love you forever; until we meet again. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A reception will also be held there after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Winnipeg Fire Fighters Burn Fund or the Winnipeg Humane Society. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their wonderful care over the past two years.
