CAROL ANN CHOMOKOVSKI (SIRACK)
Date of Passing: Mar 06, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL ANN CHOMOKOVSKI (nee SIRACK) In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 6, 2007, Carol took her last breath to begin her daily walks through the beautiful gardens of Heaven. Carol had just celebrated her 65th birthday on December 16. The disease that claimed her life was cancer of the pancreas, which was identified after she was rushed to Seven Oakes Hospital January 16 with a GI bleed. On January 26 she was transferred to the Riverview Health Centre where she died. An avid gardener who grew beautiful flowers, tomatoes and cucumbers, Carol was also an amazing cook and baker who made a delicious rhubarb pie. A generous, trusting and hard-working soul, Carol was employed as a Home Support Worker from 1987 to the summer of 2002 and worked mostly at 555 Burnell. In recent years, Carol visited Orlando, climbed Signal Hill in Newfoundland, marvelled at the Tall Ships in Halifax Harbor, made pretend snow with her granddaughter Sarah, enjoyed cracking jokes at Curves and sampling new culinary delights at the Creative Retirement Cooking Club. A caring and concerned mom to the bitter end, Carol is deeply missed by her two children, Darrell of Winnipeg and Irene of Halifax. Mourning her passing as well is her son-in-law Frank Thomas and granddaughter Sarah; sister Judy (Marsh) Towpich, Calgary; brother Bill (Marlene) Sirack, Winnipeg; sister Sandra (Cliff) McLeod, Winnipeg; brother Bob (Laraine) Sirack, Barrhead; niece Charlene (Burke) and their daughter Erin Okrainec; sister-in-law Olive Thorvaldson, Winnipeg; nieces, Pat, Linda, Grace and sister-in-law Kay, Calgary; nephew Richard (Marie) Chomokovski, Arborg, and cousin Dawn Dutchak, Winnipeg. Carol's dear friends, including Susan (Bill) Bandola, Lorne (Myrna) Toews, Harold Thorvaldson, Karen, Helen, Christa, Dave and Maura will miss her as well. She was predeceased by her husband Martin in 2000. Thank you to the friends and family who visited Carol as she was battling her terminal illness. A special thanks to Carlos, the contractor, who restored Carol's faith in people. Thanks Ben for the use of your cell phone. Special thanks to Dr. F. Crow, Dr. Christianson and Dr. Kwan for your compassion. Thank you to the nurses and aides at both Seven Oaks and Riverview 3E who did their best to make Carol as physically comfortable as possible. A memorial service for Carol will be held Thursday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be interred in the spring at the Okno Cemetery near Arborg. The family requests no flowers. Treat yourself with a bouquet instead, or make a donation to the charity of your choice in Carol's memory. Or donate blood. Thanks to people who donated blood; without your priceless gift Carol's family and friends would not have been able to say how much they loved her and will miss her. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
