Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDIANE ELAINE PHIPPEN Quietly on March 12, 2007, Diane Elaine Phippen passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 57. She was born on September 6, 1949, in Huntsville, Ontario. She grew up in Sundridge and then studied in St. Catharines, receiving her R.N. from the Mack School of Nursing in 1971. In 1979 she moved to Manitoba and received her B.A. from Providence College in 1981 (Delta Epsilon Chi Honor Society). Diane distinguished herself in her nursing profession, retiring as the provincial infection control nurse coordinator in August 2005, and receiving the Province of Manitoba Meritorious Service Award after 24 years with the Cadham Provincial Laboratory. In addition to her vocational achievements, Diane was very involved in service through her Church, but her care for all was especially noticed by her concern and love for family and many personal friends. Diane was predeceased by her sister Debora Jayne (Gowland) in 1991 and by her father Lorne Phippen in 1999. She is survived by her mother Bernice, brother Dale (Susan) Phippen, sister Darla (Jeffrey) Young, and sister-in-law Glenna. She will be sadly missed by them as well as by Kurt, Karly, Kaeli, Nicholas, Zachary, Sean, Heather, and Noah, to whom she was a very special Aunt Dee. Donations in Diane's memory to a charity may be made to the Debora Jayne Gowland Memorial Fund (Salvation Army Ethics Centre, 203-298 Vaughn Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 2N8), or the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation (675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9). A memorial service will be at the Assiniboia Christian Centre (St. Chad's, Blessed John XXIII, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road) on Friday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
