Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS RODERICK EDMUND GALL After a brief illness, Douglas Gall, aged 85 years, passed away on March 13, 2007, at the Selkirk General Hospital with members of his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife Alice (nee Dougherty) in September 2001, and life was never the same. He was predeceased by his father Edmond and his mother Norma. Doug has one surviving sister, Ruth Wattier. Born June 26, 1921, Douglas grew up in Winnipeg and served in the Second World War as an airplane mechanic with the R.C.A.F. in eastern Canada. It was then when he met his future wife Alice, and they wed in Toronto, Ontario, on November 29, 1947. Doug followed in his father's footsteps when he joined the Canadian National Railway where he spent 46 years working and retired as a Signal Maintainer in 1985. Doug was known for his love of life, his generous and giving heart, his family commitment and his philosophy: there's only one time around! Doug loved people, dancing and his many friends. A natural born tinkerer, he could usually be found with his head under the hood of some car wondering if they'd checked the oil lately. Doug loved the outdoors. He, his wife and children spent many summers camping and fishing. He enjoyed his family life, his children and his grandchildren. Doug leaves to mourn his daughter Veronica (Junior) Cormier, grandchildren, Stacey and Darcie, his son Ed (Val) Gall, grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Clark, Sean and his great-grandson Max, his daughter Rebecca (Stu) Thompson, grandchildren, Colleen (Ray) Abbott, Stefan and Kevin, his daughter Claudia (Henry) Hueging, grandchildren, Ryan, Darcy, Karl, Darrell, Michael and Evan.
