FRIEDERIKA MCNAMARA (nee MICKLA) Frieda passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 74 years. Her journey had been a difficult one of late, but Frieda took great comfort spending the last hours surrounded by her loving family. She was secure in her faith and quietly communicated she was ready to take her journey to a place free of earthly fear and pain. Frieda was born July 21, 1932, in Sierning Austria, and immigrated to Canada in 1954. She brought her energy and hard work ethic to her new home, and worked tirelessly as a staff worker at the Royal Canadian Legion and Health Sciences Centre. Frieda retired in 1994. In her retirement, Frieda had been able to travel, enjoy the company of her family, appreciate the companionship of her loving husband Des and focus on her great joy of contributing to charity. Frieda is predeceased by her parents, Franz and Maria Mickla and sister Mitzi of Austria. Left to remember and appreciate the important role she played in her family's lives are her husband Des McNamara, son Otto (Rosemary) Wimberger, daughter Inga (Jim) Bell, son Carl Wimberger, granddaughter Jennifer (Neil), granddaughter Shannon (Craig), granddaughter Melissa and her great-granddaughter Isabella (Shannon and Craig), born February 15, 2007. Also left to celebrate her life are her immediate family in Austria, brother Josef (Herta), brother Franz (Josephina), sister Inga (Walter) and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews St., Fr. Kevin Smith officiating. The family wishes to thank attending staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, especially Tanya and Beverly. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to a cancer charity of choice.
