CAROL ROSE SNYDAL (nee SMITH) On Tuesday, March 13, 2007, Carol passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital at the age of 72 years after a prolonged illness. Remaining to forever cherish Carol's memory are her husband Karl of 54 years of marriage; her sons, Kris and Dan (Deb); daughters, Joy (Barrie), Lee-Ann (George) and Dee Dee Penner (Jerry); son-in-law Wally Hiebert (Erna); sister Pat Sinnock (Ted); brother Lynn; grandchildren, Michael, Angela, Steven, Alissa, Kayla, Ryan, Kyle, Cassie and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Alex, Jessana and Leyton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynnette Carol Hiebert; her parents, Maynard and Margaret; brother Keith; and sister Kay Cockerill. Along with raising six kids of their own, Karl and Carol also fostered eight children over the years. Mom kept busy with her many jobs throughout the years ranging from being a telephone operator, restaurant hostess, 4-H leader (sewing and crafts), dog trainer and show dog presenter, restaurant owner and cook. She also loved curling, cheering on the Winnipeg Jets, sewing for her kids, caring for her farm animals, making and selling her amazing baking and crafts at the St. Norbert Farmer's Market and spending time with her family all the while filling the house with the sweet smells of her wonderful cooking and baking. Her family was her pride and joy, nothing in the world made her happier and prouder. Carol's funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bord - Aire Community Centre, 471 Hampton Street. A private interment will follow at a later date in Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank WRHA Respiratory Homecare and the Doctor's and staff of 3 North at the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 - 200 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
