JANET ELLEN KENT Peacefully, on Thursday, March 15, 2007, with family by her side, Janet passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 97 years. Janet is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her dear companion Ab; son David (Margo); daughter Joan (Wally); grandchildren, Jonathan, Andrew, Fred (Nancy), Michael (Patsy), Steven (Julie) and Brenda (Andy); and great-grandchildren, Christine, Jennifer and Ashley; nieces, Margaret (Ian), Gail (Reis); and nephew Hugh (Martha); as well as many other family members across Canada. Janet was predeceased by her husband Allan; and daughter Dorothy. Janet was born in Miniota, Manitoba, the ninth child of David and Rose Gerrand. She moved to Winnipeg in her teens, attending business college, and later worked for the City of Winnipeg. After her retirement Janet became a personal caregiver. Janet was very family oriented and was a wonderful hostess for family events. She was compassionate and was always there when needed. Janet had strength of character, always looking to the future, and she loved to laugh. The family would like to thank the staff on the 5th Floor at the Grace Hospital and on 3 South at Deer Lodge Centre, with special thanks to Charlotte La Fleche for her compassionate care and Patricia Schouten for her kindness, both of 3 East. Viewing will take place on Saturday, March 17 at NBI Cremation Services, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 18 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue (Aubrey Street entrance), at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to charities of their choice.
