Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKEN LUNDY Peacefully on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at his home at the age of 63, Ken passed away after a lengthy battle with heart disease and diabetes. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Alf and Mary Lundy; sister Betty Thomlinson; brother-in-law Brian Tataryn and mother-in-law Rene Rennick. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 42 years Marlene; son Steven and wife Paula, son Kent and wife Roxanne; grandsons, Travis and Evan; brother Gordon and wife Pat; and sister Shelley. Ken was born on October 3, 1943 in Winnipeg, MB. He came to McCreary with his family as a young teenager and decided that this would be his home and never left. He found work with John Shineton Electric at 15 and after finishing school decided the Electrical trade would be his calling in life, going on to complete his Electrical Apprenticeship. In 1965 he married his life partner Marlene and together they had two sons. In 1980 Ken and Marlene bought out his original boss and started Lundy Electrical Ltd. Over the next 20 years he completed countless Electrical projects around the province and had a real memory for all the places and dates that these jobs had taken place. It was hard to find a town in the province that he hadn't worked in his 40 years of working. He took great pride in getting many young men started into the trade and have them go onto become Journeyman. Along with his passion for work and business, he had a great love of animals. Ken and Marlene purchased an acreage on the edge of town years ago and raised sheep and horses there. This was Ken's escape as he spent many hours in peace away from the phone tending to the animals and garden or just leaning on the fence surveying his kingdom. His two grandsons, Travis and Evan were also a great source of pride and enjoyment and looked forward to their visits and hockey games. Due to poor health he was forced into early retirement in 2000. Over the next seven years, it was and endless circle of medical trips and doctor appointments and throughout all this somehow he was able to maintain a positive attitude until his passing. The family would like to thank Dr. Claudio Rigatto and staff of the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit at St. Boniface Hospital and Dr. Barry Riche of Brandon Hospital for their support and guidance over the past seven years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 310 Broadway Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Funeral Service will be held at the McCreary Community Centre on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the McCreary Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Peggy Reid officiating.
