RICHARD SCHELER July 20, 1931 - March 15, 2007 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Scheler on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his wife Grace Scheler of 46 years; two sons, John and Andrew (Kelly); and grandchildren, Cody and Kristen Scheler. Richard is also survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews of the Clairmont, MacPhee, Field and Weger families and special family friend Ruth Growitz. He was predeceased by his and Grace's parents. Richard was born in Zdunska-Wola, Poland and later moved to Germany. He came to Winnipeg in 1951 and worked up in Cranberry-Portage as a logger. In Germany, he was a cooper and also a wine maker. He worked at Canada Vinegars for 24 years until it closed. He then worked at Advance Paper Box for 18 years until he retired. He was an avid gardener starting his garden in the cold frame so he could put it out once the snow melted. Special thanks to Ed and Elaine Clairmont and Cecelia MacPhee for all their help. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the Staff on 3E at Riverview Health Care Centre. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 1531 Pembina Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Lung Cancer Research.
