Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE CELINE MARIE GAGNON (nee MALO) Peacefully, with members of her family at her side, Irène passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the age of 80. Irène was predeceased by her daughter Jo-Anne Dilallo, her infant grandson, Angelo Dilallo and her daughter-in-law Theresa Gagnon. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 60 years, Martial (Butch); her sisters, Thérèse Dandenault and Germaine Vandale; her children, Gérald of Ottawa, Gilles (Suzanne) of Winnipeg, Robert of Winnipeg, Elaine (Arni) Popplestone of Pilot Mound, Lynne McLean of Pilot Mound and Suzanne (Scott) McLean of Pilot Mound as well as 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irène was born in St. Malo, Manitoba on June 2, 1926 where she attended school, later moving to Winnipeg where she met and married Martial in 1946. She worked for many years as a nurse's aide at St. Boniface Hospital. But her main priority was always her husband and children to whom she was totally dedicated. A generous and loving person, she always placed other people's well-being ahead of her own. Sadly, during the last few years of her life, Irène was afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and spent the last two years in Centre Taché and later Foyer Valade where she was reunited with her husband. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the people who cared for Irène while she was at Taché and at Valade as well as to the staff at Victoria Hospital who were so helpful in the last two days of her life. A memorial mass celebrating Irène's life will be held on Monday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irène's memory to the Alzheimer Society, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4G2. The Coutu Family in Care of arrangements: E.J COUTU CO.
