JOHN HOMENICK (HAMMY) May 4, 1921 - March 10, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad and grandpa on March 10, 2007. John will be deeply missed by his son Barry (Leola), grandchildren, Christa and Dana; son Gord (Mickey), grandchildren, Gordie Dane Anders and Taylor; also his sister Mary Martinuk. John was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Betty; his parents Michael and Katherine; and his brothers, Bill, Pete, Fred and Matt. John was born and raised in Winnipeg. He worked for Veterans Nash Taxi (later Duffys). He also worked for Champs Food Services for 30 years before retiring in 1991. Upon retiring John could be found reading his paper, helping out or just making everyone laugh at the brazier store. John's pride and joy were his grandchildren. He lived his life to see them and guide them. He was never happier than when he was with them. They were blessed to have him for a grandpa. When grandfathers were bragging about their grandchildren, his grandchildren were bragging about their grandfather. The family would like to thank Dr. MacMillan, the Queen, the Princess, Laura Secord, Paul and Virg for their care, compassion and friendship. Lisa and Phil, thanks for being there. Interment and service will take place on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden, 4477 Main St. A celebration of John's life will follow at his son Gord's home. A day to remember, sad to recall, no longer in our lives to share but deep in our hearts you are always there. VICHNAYA PAMYAT
