Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE AMELIA JOYCEY (nee WATTS) July 19, 1916 - March 7, 2007 Born in London, England, Irene grew up and attended school in the East End. Following school she apprenticed and worked as a seamstress and developed skills which she would use throughout her life. During the Second World War Irene was ordained into the Sisterhood of the Methodist Church, and served with the National Children's Home. Married in 1945 to Geoffrey Joycey, she spent the next 14 years raising her young and growing family while providing support to Geoffrey as they ministered at various Methodist Churches in England. The family moved to Canada in 1958 and over the next 30 years Irene continued to contribute to their ministry as the family moved across Canada to accept callings from various United Church congregations. Following retirement in 1986 Irene and Geoffrey moved to Winnipeg. In addition to being a skilled seamstress, a tenacious knitter, and artistic in her needlework, she was slow to anger or criticize, and quick to praise, offer assistance to those less fortunate, and to smile. Irene leaves her husband Geoffrey; five children (David, Jennifer, Rosemarie, John and Philip and their partners); 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the National Children's Home in Irene's name may do so by logging onto https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/sisterirene or by making a donation to the charity of their choice.
