MARGUERITA (RITA) FINLAYSON (nee STEWART) Peacefully on March 15, 2007, Rita Finlayson, beloved wife of Edgar and mother of Robin (Lori), Roslyn (Dan) and Richard (Norma), passed away at the Victoria Hospital. Rita also leaves to cherish her memory, her precious grandchildren, Lisa, Paul, Ryan, Tyler and Caleb; stepgrandchildren, Shawn and Garnett, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was born on May 20, 1916 in Morden, MB, one of eight children to Duncan and Margaret Stewart. She grew up on the family farm near Miami, MB before moving to Winnipeg and a job with the Singer Sewing Company. This job inspired mom's interest in fabric and interior design. After her children were born, she joined the Eaton Company where she worked for many years in their custom drapery department. Mom had a special flair for fashion and she received daily compliments on the way she was always impeccably dressed. Mom was extremely proud of her husband Eddie, and the accomplishments of their children. Mom loved spending time with her grandchildren and she also enjoyed her winters in Lakeland, Florida where she and dad loved visiting and shopping. Mom was a warm and caring person who was well liked by everyone she met. The family would like to acknowledge mom's special friends, Cindy East, Mary Curtis and Huegette Beaubien who paid her regular visits through the years. The family would like to thank Carolyn and Tina for their warm home care attention, as well as Marilyn, the staff and new friends at Sterling House. We would also like to acknowledge Dr. Salem and the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their special care. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 20 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
