MARY KRYSKO (TRUBA) (nee GLABUSH) April 6, 1921 - March 15, 2007 Sadly, we announce the passing of Mary Krysko, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Thursday, March 15, 2007, peacefully in her sleep at River East Personal Care Home at the age of 85. Remaining to cherish Mary's memory are her daughter Janet Lapka (Michael); son Don Truba; son-in-law Doug Laurin; grandchildren, Tracy Bell (Tom), Cori Lapka (Rick), Ryan Lapka (Diane), Morley Truba (Crystal), Yvette Van Haga (Steve), Kelvin Laurin (Kellee); great-grandchildren, Dillon Polny, Kristine Laurin and Suzanne Laurin; sisters, Kay Rowe and Carol Pilkonis. Mary was predeceased by her parents; son Fred in 1964; first husband Bill Truba in 1977; daughter Irene Laurin in 2005; sister Ann Sword; brothers, Nick, Walter, Andrew, Albert, Mike, Gus and Alex; and second husband Frank Krysko in 2004. Mary was born and raised in Prawda, MB, moving to Winnipeg at age 16 to work at St. Boniface Hospital until she married her childhood sweetheart, Bill Truba, at age 18, then moving back to Prawda where they operated a woodcutting and lumber business, where she cooked for the crew and was responsible for the bookkeeping, as well as raising four children. In 1952, they built a home in West Kildonan, residing there until a new home was built on Knowles Avenue in 1971. After Bill's passing, Mary moved into Winnipeg. She travelled to Toronto to celebrate a family gathering, where she remet Frank Krysko who she had known since childhood. Mary and Frank married in 1987, at first spending their summers in Frank's cottage in Parry Sound, Ontario, and later at the property at McMunn. They enjoyed travelling to Arizona, Cuba, Portugal, Africa and Poland until Alzheimer's took away that freedom to reside at River East Personal Care Home following Frank's stroke in May 2002. A special thanks is extended to the staff at River East Personal Care Home. Funeral service and interment will take place on Wednesday, March 21 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home And Reception Centre 885-9715
