MARY MARJORIE O'SHAUGHNESSY After a brief illness, Mary Marjorie O'Shaughnessy (nee Young) passed away peacefully on March 17, 2007, at St. Boniface Hospital. Mary is survived by her daughter Erin (Pierre); and sons, Darren (Michael) and Daniel (Valerie); and grandchildren, Louis-Philippe and Laura Corbeil, and Bryanne and Connor O'Shaughnessy. Predeceased by father and mother, Lamert (Cy) and Elizabeth (Elsie) Young; sisters, Jean Young and Betty Smith; and brother James Young. Mother Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother not just to her own children, but to a wide group of chosen family who were very much a part of her life. Mom was an avid gardener, and devoted many hours to maintaining the beauty of her oft-admired flower beds. Her favourite pastime in her latter years was sitting on her deck, surrounded by her gardens, with her beloved companions, Kayli and Smuggler, at her side. Heartfelt thanks to the devoted staff of the 5B medical ward of St. Boniface Hospital, and Doctors Crowe, Forrester and Garcia. Your care, compassion, kindness and support to Mom, family, and friends during this difficult time were much appreciated. Special thanks as well to Jenn, whose care and support allowed Mom to live her life to the fullest until the very end. An open invitation is extended for a gathering of family and friends at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25 at Dalnavert Museum, 61 Carlton Street (south of Broadway) in downtown Winnipeg. In May 2006, Mom celebrated her 80th birthday at Dalnavert, and cherished the memories of that gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
