Eph was born December 15, 1925, in Germany. He immigrated to Winnipeg with his family in 1926. Eph graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and later obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (Chemistry) from the University of Manitoba in 1949. After graduating from university, Eph joined his father and brother in the family construction business, John Miller and Sons Ltd. As a young man, Eph loved the game of basketball and was involved both as a player and as a coach. Eph also enjoyed curling and golf in his younger years. After marrying Lucille McLean on September 8, 1951, Eph and his wife settled in Fort Garry to raise their three children. Next to his family, Eph's greatest passion in life was his love of nature. Eph was an exceptional marksman and an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed leading family blueberry picking expeditions. Eph particularly loved his time at his cottage on Miller Island in Clearwater Bay as well as time spent at his hunting lodge in Plumas, MB. Eph was a well-respected businessman in the construction industry. He was still active in the business up until two weeks prior to his passing. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to acknowledge the care and compassion of the staff on the E5 Medicine ward at St. Boniface Hospital.
