BODYKEVICH It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Alex, the beloved husband of Mary, on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the age of 83 years at his residence. Alex was predeceased by his father Nicholas and mother Joanna; his first wife Anne and sister Olga. Leaving to mourn are his extended family; Mike Hladiuk, Shirley, Tom and Michael Boyle, Robert, Leona, Derek and Bradley Hladiuk. He will also be remembered by his daughter Joanne and granddaughters, Andrea and Vanessa; son Eugene and friend Gloria; his brothers, William (Nadia), Thomas (Oksana), Metro (Frances) and brother-in-law Tony Klimchuk. Alex was a modest, caring person who devoted his time to his family and friends. He served 4 years in the Second World War in the air force as a navigator and interpreter. With his wartime experience he acknowledged the significance of the Legion and so he served as a lifetime Legionnaire. On May 12, 1973, he was involved in the ministries after being ordained to the Diaconate. He enjoyed assisting Father John Melnyk in prayer and devotion to God as a Cantor. After 30 years of public service he retired as a postman on December 22, 1978. Prayers will be said on Friday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 110 Disraeli St., with the Very Rev. John A. Melnyk officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
