Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWENDY RUTH SAIN (nee OLIVER) With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter-in-law, auntie, niece, cousin and friend. After her brave battle with cancer, we lost our Wendy on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Health Sciences Centre, in the early morning of the first day of spring surrounded by her family and their enduring love of her. Her diagnosis and subsequent six-week hospital stay began our nightmare but we never stopped calling her gorgeous. We were the loudest bunch in the hospital. We will miss her every moment, every second, every breath. Wendy was born on July 11, 1955, in Winnipegosis, MB, and raised in Churchill and Fort Churchill, MB, with Winnipeg being home all her adult life. She loved her country home in St. Andrews where her flowers grew and coffee in her sun porch was a happy day. Wendy was a Payroll Administrator at Child and Family Services, and we thank all her colleagues and old friends for their many calls and cards and visits. You brightened her days. She is survived by her husband John; her children, Tracy Sain and partner Doug Vanderelst of Winnipeg, Treena and Jason Bilous of Winnipeg, Kelly and Krista Sain of Selkirk and Tamara Sain of St. Andrews along with her boyfriend Brett Zastre. Her grand-children, Kyle Vanderelst, Sarah and Ryan Bilous and Brayden Sain were the blessings of her life. She is also survived by her sisters and brother and their families: Linda and Garth McGinnis of Thunder Bay, Jackie and Dave Hodges of Edmonton, Susan and Reg Webb of Winnipeg, Sharon and Mike Morrell of Flin Flon, Roy and Bea Oliver of Fort Smith, NWT, and sister-in-law Claire Oliver of Winnipeg; mother and father-in-law Johanna and Rudy Sain of Winnipeg; brothers-in-law, Guy and Peggy Sain of Beausejour, Mitchell and Mina Sain of Toronto, David and Lori Sain of Winnipeg and their families. Wendy was predeceased by her father Alex, her mother Mary and brother Peter. Our mom loved us and pumpkin pie. She nagged our dad and he yelled back, they made a perfect pair. Her pets rounded out their lives and a sunny day in her yard - with no weeds! - with her family was all she would ask for. It's been a wedge, our sunshine girl. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Flowers are gratefully declined. Wendy loved animals. If you wish, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., or a charity of your choice. The family invites friends and colleagues to join them to celebrate Wendy's life at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy., on Monday, March 26 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. EVOLUTION When first he called me Sweetheart My youthful knees grew weak And that was topped when I heard wife For sure, I'd reached the peak Until a tiny voice said Mom.... A joy I still recall But now, the sound of Grandma Is the sweetest voice of all. - Gay Wilson
