JESSIE STANBRIDGE Peacefully in her sleep, on March 22, 2007, Jessie Emily Stanbridge (nee Harcus), widow of Mathew James Stanbridge, passed away at the Golden West Centennial Lodge. Jessie was born on December 1, 1908, in Stonewall and grew up on the family farm. She attended Tecumsch and Stonewall Schools. She graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1931 and worked as a private duty nurse until her marriage to Jim in December 1932. Together they raised their family in Winnipeg's West End where Jessie was active in many aspects of life in that growing Community. She was a member of the UCW of Epworth and later Harstone Memorial United Churches as well as numerous charitable activities. Jessie was active in the lives of her large extended family and circle of friends, continuing her nursing career helping anyone in need. In retirement, she continued her active volunteer life, while also tending to many flowers in her gardens at their new home in Westwood, as well as a large vegetable garden at the farm. Together she and Jim traveled extensively in North America and spent many summer days fishing near their summer camp at Bird River. Later in life, while she became less physically active she continued to take an active interest in her family and friends, particularly taking a keen interest in her two great-grandchildren. Jessie is survived by her grandchildren, Douglas Einarson and wife Karen, and Donna Elias and husband Darren; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Kristjan Einarson and brother Tom Harcus. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1995; son Mathew James in 1958; daughter Marilyn in 2004; son-in-law Baldur Einarson in 1986 and her brother John in 1992. A funeral service will be held at Thomson Funeral Home on Monday, April 2, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to express our appreciation to all gramma's helpers and caregivers at The Westhaven and more recently Golden West Centennial Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golden West Centennial Lodge or a charity of one's choice. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway - 783-7211 www.thomsonfuneralhome.com
