RETA MARIE ISABEL BRICKMAN (nee CARTER) Peacefully, on March 19, 2007, at the Grace Hospital with her family at her side, Reta passed away at the of 86. She was predeceased by her husband Roy; her parents, Myrtle and Earl Carter; and nephew Dana Biggs. Her memory will be forever cherished by her beloved son Roger (Jill) of Dryden, ON; her two granddaughters, Sharman (Chris) and Erin (Chris) of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Samara, Braiden and Steffan; sisters, Ramona Maloney of Nanaimo, BC, and Joan Biggs of Thunder Bay, ON; very special friend and caregiver Diane Sorensen along with her group of L.O.L's ; as well as nieces, Vicki and Tannis; and nephew Barry. Daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and beloved friend: for all those whose lives you've enriched with your kind heart, your generous spirit, your humour and your zest for life, we are forever blessed for having known you. Reta lived her life to the fullest one day at a time trusting her Higher Power. At Reta's request cremation has taken place, no formal service to be held. Flowers gratefully declined; however, if friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in honour of her cat Emma, her loving companion. You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
