Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET OLAF SIGMUNDSON After a long and productive life Margaret / Amma died in her sleep at Betel Personal Care Home in Gimli on Monday, March 19, 2007. Margaret was born in Riverton to Olafur and Sigga Olafson on June 20, 1917. She was raised and attended school in Riverton. She graduated as a registered nurse from the Children's Hospital of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her first husband Kjartan Ari Solmundsson in January of 1944. She married Marino Sigmundson in 1948 and moved to Gimli. During her time in Gimli she was active in community affairs and was the nurse / receptionist at The Gimli Medical Center for Dr. George Johnson and Dr. Ingmundson and subsequently Dr. Jonas Johnson. In this capacity she played an integral role in the lives of many residents of Gimli. She was noted for her kindness and thoughtfulness, her care and concern for all of their patients. She retired at 65 and resided in Gimli until her death. She was predeceased by Marino in February of 1992. She is survived by her son, Harold Keith (Gwen); two grandsons, Ian Keith (Kim) and Trevor Quinn and her great-granddaughter Carly, her brother Harold, and sister Grace in Ontario. At Margaret's request cremation has taken place and a memorial service and celebration of her life will be held for her numerous friends and family at the Gimli Lutheran Church on June 30, 2007. A reminder notice will be published in June. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Gimli Lutheran Church. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
